July 4th/Independence Celebrations have a long history in Havre de Grace. In this first post of three, we share some of the items our ‘casual historian’ has in his Havre de Grace History MuZeum.

Thanks to the generosity of Charlie Mike, we have this program from the City of Havre de Grace Program for July 4, 1898! It included:
- Flag Raising Ceremony
- Boat Race
- Baseball Game

- Grand Patriotic Meeting

Havre de Grace Fireworks Factory
Thanks to a local resident, Diane Smith, we have added a good deal of information about Achillo Fabrizio and the Havre de Grace Fireworks Plant off Chapel Road. (We’ll share more in the 2nd of our 3 videos.)
Achillo Fabrizio had a number of patents for a variety of fireworks used in displays. This is just one for ‘Torpedoes.’ Our ‘casual historian’ has 5 or 6 patents thanks to Diane Smith’s generosity! Most of them are dated in the 1930s.
