Many types of trophies and ribbons celebrate accomplishments, including today’s popular ‘participation’ trophies, as well as first-place awards for major achievements in various fields. Our ‘casual historian’ shares several personal ‘trophies’ as well as trophies and ribbons for various organizations and accomplishments in our Havre de Grace community.

Our ‘Casual Historian’s’ participation award from MacGregor’s Restaurant as part of their Mask Making Friends, during the Covid Pandemic.
Personal trophies George won when racing cars at Far West Speedway when he was 15-16, living in Libby Montana.

Then in 1978, George achieved Best Marksman during his Basic Training.
His Best Trophy – his lovely wife Barbara. This is a picture of them on a cruise.

Did you know our ‘casual historian’ has his own Cinderella Collection? Barbara and friends surprised George with a Cinderella wedding theme on Dec. 18, 2009.
Next, we have a ribbon won by Shiela Stansbury – 1st place for girls 50-yard dash – Havre de Grace Elementary School Field Day 1975.

1956 collection of ribbons from the Golden Vein Riding School Gymkana in Havre de Grace. Many locals remember learning to ride here.

Next, a bowling trophy that came out of the Harris’ Estate – Men’s Church League 1959-60 Playoff Champions – Havre de Grace Baptist.

Well-earned trophy, Hall of Fame Golden Bear – presented to Wardell Stansbury for track from Morgan State University in 1983 for his achievements in 1958. Wardell is also in the Havre de Grace High School Hall of Fame.

Many folks remember the Hi Steppers from American Legion Post #47. This trophy is from 1975.

Several festivals in the city present awards and trophies, including this trophy from 2021 (NOT 1921) Havre de Grace Ice Festival “Ice Sculpture Design” CHAMPION.

And in 2022 Havre de Grace Waterfront Festival for Crab Soup Challenge CHAMPION presented to Creole de Graw.

In the 1960s, Havre de Grace held Boat Races Regattas. Madison Mitchell, a renowned local decoy carver, made decoy lamps for the winners.
